Your Trial Box

Everything you need to know about your first box of KatKin

So you’re thinking about placing your first order of KatKin, but you might have some questions for us before you take the plunge.

So what is a KatKin trial box?

If you’ve never ordered KatKin before, your first order will always be a 14 day trial box. This contains 2 weeks of food to give your cat plenty of time to transition.

During sign up, we’ll ask lots of questions about your cat, so we can send you the perfect amount of food they need. We recommend a selection of our most loved recipes in the trial, but you can alter this mix to your cat’s liking.

You can choose from a selection of our 7 recipes, or if you let us know your cat has an allergy, we’ll make sure to only suggest recipes suitable for them. You’ll need to select 14 trays before you can continue onto the next page.

  1. Select the amount of cats you'd like to receive a trial box for (you can add additional cats to your account later)

  2. Tell us your cat's details and our calorie calculator will choose the best portion size for them

  3. Choose the combination of recipes you'd like your cat to try or stick with our most popular recipe selection.

  4. Complete the sign up process and choose a delivery date for your trial boxes to arrive.

Top tip! KatKin is a great excuse to do that freezer clean-out you've been putting off for months. You'll need the same space as a loaf of bread takes up for the 2 week trial box.

What’s in the trial box?

In your trial box, alongside your 14 chosen recipes, you’ll also receive:

  • A welcome booklet: to give you an overview of your KatKin subscription and advice on how to help your cat transition to the new food.

  • For cats without a chicken allergy a free jar of chicken Sprinkles: a tasty meal topper made of 100% chicken breast.

  • A referral leaflet to give to friends and family, for discounts galore.

  • Ingredients in each tray using the QR code printed on the front: which will take you to a detailed breakdown of the ingredients and nutritional stats.

Amending your trial box

You’re not able to make any amendments to your trial box in your account, but our Cat Experts are here to help. If you spot an issue with your delivery address or you realise the delivery date doesn’t work for you, find out how to get in touch here.

If we haven’t sent your order to our kitchen yet, there might still be time to make changes, so get in touch with us as soon as possible.

During your 2 week trial

Once your trial box has been delivered and the majority of the food safely put away in the freezer, give your cat their first meal in a nice, calm environment.

If your cat loves the food, within a few days you should already start to see changes in their litter box. Stools may become smaller, firmer and less smelly.

After a week of eating KatKin, you might notice their fur has become softer and shinier. Maybe they’ve stopped waking you up at 5am to demand breakfast? Or they seem more energetic and kitten-like during the day. We hope you’ll continue to see even more benefits as your cat settles into their new diet (and we love hearing about them too!)

At any point in the trial period, you can log into your account to make changes.

ℹ️ Our Standard 28-day box will automatically be set for delivery 2 weeks after you received your trial box. But don't worry, we'll send you an email reminder 4 days before this is delivered, and if you signed up with a mobile number, we'll send you a text reminder too. If the automatic delivery date doesn’t work for you, you can move the date at no extra charge. We deliver from Tuesday - Saturday every week.

What if my cat isn’t a fan of the trial box?

No worries, we’re used to very fickle cats here at KatKin and some cats take longer to switch than others. Read our fussy cat guide here for extra tips from customers on switching stubborn cats.

(Most) cats are suspicious of anything new so choose a good time to start feeding KatKin when you’ll be home and able to give your cat support if they need it. If you’re going on holiday soon, or there’s extreme weather, the food can be stored in the freezer for up to 9 months, so there’s plenty of time to introduce it.

We recommend delaying your next delivery, as some cats need even longer than 2 weeks to make the switch to fresh food. The subscription is flexible so you can delay or stop deliveries as often as you need to. We just need 3 days notice to stop any scheduled payment.

*Please note, the final cut-off for Cat Experts to cancel or make changes to a box is 4pm two days before delivery. This means there’s a small window for our Cat Experts to try and make changes to an order after a payment has been taken but before an order is processed at 4pm. We’re sadly not able to cancel or make changes to a box after the cut-off deadline has passed.
