Updating your cat's weight, lifestyle and body type

How to change your cat’s weight and why it’s important to do this

Updated over 3 weeks ago

It’s important that your cat’s weight is updated regularly, as this is how we help calculate their correct portion size. We won’t ever change portion size without your permission as this change the price of your plan, but our calorie calculator will automatically suggest the best portion based on the details you give us.

You’ll need to select the preferred portion in your account and save the changes.

Kittens

If you have a kitten, it’s important to update their weight every 3 months at least. Kittens need more calories than adults while they’re growing (and exerting a lot of energy) but as they get closer to adulthood, their portion size will most likely need to decrease. We’ll suggest the right portion each time you update their weight in your account.

Once a kitten reaches 1 year old, their activity levels might start to change. Make sure to keep this up to date in their details as well.

Adults

KatKin is designed to give your cat the perfect amount of calories they need, in order to be their ideal weight. That means that if your cat needs to put on or lose weight, keeping their details up to date ensures we won’t send too much or too little food.

Tip! If your cat’s weight has changed since being on KatKin, their BCS (body condition score) and activity level might also have changed. Keep these details up to date, as this will also impact the portion size we suggest.

A cat considered ‘chubby’ who has lost weight since being on KatKin, should have their BCS updated to ‘just right’ when they have reached their ideal weight, so you can adjust the portion size accordingly in order to maintain that BCS.
