During pregnancy and lactation your cat will need additional calories to meet her nutritional requirements, as she will be using significantly more energy during this time, especially in the last three to four weeks of pregnancy.
Every pregnant cat’s nutritional requirements vary based on the number of kittens they have, their size etc. Therefore, each case needs to be assessed on an individual basis. This is best achieved with regular vet visits throughout their pregnancy. Your vet will assess her body condition regularly and use this to guide her calorie requirements and specific care advice.
If your vet feels your cat needs more calories, get back in touch with our Cat Experts and we can increase your tray size to help meet her nutritional requirements.
