How are refunds processed at KatKin and how do they appear on bank statements?
At KatKin, we try to do our best to ensure a smooth refund process but we also understand that different refund methods can sometimes cause confusion. This article provides a comprehensive explanation of refund types, timelines, and visibility on bank statements.
Refund Processing Types
Standard Refunds
When a refund is issued by us, it's often processed as a standard refund. This means:
The refund is credited back to your original payment method.
You can expect to see it labeled as an incoming payment or credit on your bank statement within 10 working days.
Refunds via Reversals
In some cases, refunds are processed as reversals instead of standard credits. Here’s how reversals work:
The original charge is cancelled before it fully settles with us.
No separate refund entry appears in your bank account; instead, the original debit disappears from your transaction history. You can double check this by searching for the original KatKin charge on your statement; if it no longer appears, the reversal has been processed successfully.
Same-Day Reversals
If KatKin reverses a charge on the same day it was made, it often doesn't show up as a refund or reversal line item. Instead:
The initial charge is voided during the pending phase (typically within 12 hours).
Double check your available bank balance rather than searching for a transaction entry.
Timeline for Refund Processing
Refund processing times depend largely on your bank or card provider. At KatKin we typically try to process refunds promptly, but it may take:
3–5 business days for standard refunds to appear as credits.
Reversals might reflect instantly, though in some cases, banks may take longer to update your statement. Some banks take up to 10 working days to process.
After 10 working days, for refunds that haven’t come back to your account yet, please get in touch with our Cat Expert team. We’ll be happy to provide an ARN or a STAN for you to pass on to your bank so they can track the payment.
Typically, banks use the ARN or STAN to locate specific transactions. Make sure to provide this information along with the transaction dates when contacting your bank so they can locate the refund as quickly as possible for you.
How to Verify Your Refund
If you are unsure whether a refund or reversal was processed, follow these steps:
Search your bank statement for the original KatKin charge - If it is missing completely, a reversal was probably processed.
Check with your bank for confirmation using the transaction details (e.g. tracking/reference number if provided).
If you had issues with a refund not appearing as expected, contact our Cat Experts who will be happy to help.
Charges for Rejected Deliveries
At KatKin, we requires changes or cancellations to be made to orders by Midnight, three days before delivery. If you miss this cutoff, charges for active deliveries can't be refunded, even if the boxes are refused.
