Freezer space requirements

How much freezer space do KatKin trays take up?

Updated this week

Trial box

When you receive your trial box, we always recommend putting 5 trays straight into your fridge to defrost so they’re ready to serve your cat.

This leaves 9 trays remaining. The dimensions of each tray are between 15cm and 20cm in width and up to 2cm in depth. All together they take up the space of about 1 loaf of bread, so if you have room for this, a trial box will easily fit.

Standard Monthly Plan

For your normal monthly supply, which is 28 sets of trays, this requires a bit more freezer space. Around 2 loaves of bread and a tub of ice cream or entire standard freezer drawer.

Freezer plan

Our Freezer Plan is perfect for people who don't have plenty of freezer space to work with. This plan contains 14 days worth of food (14 trays in total, or 28 portions) delivered every 2 weeks.

It's the exact same size as the trial box, so if this fit comfortably in your freezer the Freezer Plan is a great option. 9 KatKin trays should fit snuggly in small freezer compartments within fridges.

Saver Plan

Our 6 week box contains 42 sets of trays, which, you guessed it, takes up even more space. This plan is our best value for money, but it does require ample freezer space. Make sure to clear out a drawer and a half for saver plans.

Tip! The individual trays are thin, flat rectangles that easily stack and can slip between other things. Got a space between the ice cream and the frozen peas? Pop a tray in.

Multiple cats

If you have more than one cat with an active KatKin plan, we might be able to help save some freezer space.
