At KatKin, our recipes have been formulated by a Board-Certified Vet Nutritionist to be the best for cat health. That includes fat, which isn’t just safe for cats to eat, but nutritionally important.
First we need to explain why cats can safely eat diets much higher in fat that humans can. Over a quarter of a cat’s ancestral diet is made up of protein and fat. It’s an important source of energy for cats
That’s why in some of our recipes, like Mooo and Baaa, you’ll see visible pieces of fat. We don’t include emulsifiers in our ingredients either - we believe in keeping our meals as natural as possible. This contributes to the visibility of fat which might seem unusual compared to mainstream cat food.
Tip! If your cat leaves the pieces of fat in Mooo or Baaa, microwave their plate of food before serving for 15 seconds and use a spoon to stir the meat. The heat will melt the fat and mix with the meat juices to create a gravy your cat will love.
Fatty acids, such as Omega 3 and 6, are required for a number of processes in the body including;
Maintenance of healthy skin and coat
Promoting a strong immune system
Maintaining cartilage for healthy movement in joints
This is why you’ll see Sunflower oil or fish oil as an ingredient in some of our recipes.
