As part of KatKin’s mission, we only use 100% human-quality meat, from suppliers we trust.
This means that the meat we use in all of our recipes have only been sourced from the human food supply chain, meaning they come from the same farmers that supply meat to supermarkets for us to eat.
Every piece of meat cooked in our kitchen can be traced back to the original supplier, with an official stamp of approval to ensure that the animal passed veterinary inspection. We ensure every supplier we work with conform to the UK Welfare of Farmed Animals Regulations.
Our high standards for food quality don’t stop at the meat in our recipes either. Our nutrient mix, which is added to every recipe to ensure it’s balanced and complete for your cat, is carefully mixed by a human supplement manufacturer. This ensures the highest quality human-grade sources of vitamins and minerals in absorbable forms for cats, without any unlabeled ingredients.
How is this different from mainstream cat food?
We don’t include animal derivatives, bones or any category-3 meat, which are often ingredients in tinned or dry cat food. We hold very high quality standards to ensure we have the most digestible and nutritious ingredients we can source.
To make sure standard cat food is balanced and complete (not just complementary) many mainstream cat food makers use inactive ingredients for a variety of purposes, such as preventing clumping and ensuring uniform composition in the mix. These inactive ingredients often aren’t labelled, and that’s extremely common in vitamin blends made for the pet food industry.
