I don’t know how old my cat is

What to do if you're not certain on your cat's age

Updated over 3 weeks ago

During the sign up for your trial box, one of the first things we’ll ask is your cat’s 'lifestage'. This means we want to know if your cat is classed as:

  1. A Kitten, under a year old

  2. An adult cat, between 1 and 8 years old

  3. A senior cat over 8 years old.

Does lifestage/age impact which food I receive?

Selecting your cat's age will impact which recipes are available to you and your cat, but the food we make for kittens, adults and seniors is the same.

At KatKin, we don’t make separate recipes for kittens, adults, or senior cats for two reasons.

  1. Because the majority of our meals are complete and balanced for every life stage. Thanks to our nutrient mix and our fresh, human-quality ingredients, our recipes contain the nutrients cats need at every age. We don't need to add artificial supplements or make age-specific formulas.

  2. Mainstream cat food brands often don't portion their food by calories, they can't safely offer adult cats food that's suitable for kittens as it would cause the risk of weight gain.

KatKin is suitable for all cats: from kittens all the way to seniors. But, not all of our recipes are available to kittens.

🐑 This is because Baaa, our lamb recipe, doesn’t have the boosted nutrients growing kittens need.

This means that if you don’t know your cat’s age, maybe they’re a rescue or they moved into your house and claimed you as an owner, that’s not a problem. Just give us your best guess!

If you think your cat might be a kitten, let us know they’re under a year old.

Otherwise, their exact age won’t impact the recipes available to your cat and they'll be able to try all KatKin recipes.
