Switching fussy cats

Unsure whether to try KatKin with a fussy cat? Here's our advice

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Why will KatKin be a good choice for my fussy cat?

We'd love to welcome you and your cat to the KatKin Club! We’ve carefully designed a whole host of recipes so there are plenty of options to choose from, and you're always able to switch up their recipe selection as needed.

The main thing to remember is: your cat may seem fussy, but it’s actually more likely to be neophobia. That’s the instinct to be wary of new foods, and cats are born with it to help them survive in the wild.

Helping them get past that instinct takes time and persistence, so switching completely can take anything from 24 hours to a couple of weeks. But we’ll be by your side all the way with our welcome guide, an in-house vet team and cat experts always on hand to give you extra support and advice.

It’s important to remember: however fussy your cat might be (and we’ve seen some of the fussiest) it’s all worth it in the end. When your cat switches to our 100% fresh-cooked meat cat food, they’ll have a lifetime of better health. More energy, a softer coat, better digestion – all because you tried something new and kept persevering with their new diet.

My cat only seems to like one recipe - are they missing out on nutrition?

If your cat finishes the trial and has a clear favourite recipe - great news! Because each of our meal are balanced and complete, your cat won’t be missing out on any nutrition by just sticking to one recipe.

That means if they ate just Gobble for the rest of their life, they’d be getting all of the vitamins and minerals they need. And you won’t have to remember to change your recipes each month!

Just remember to remove the unloved recipes from their box, so you don’t receive any more of those trays. You’ll receive a recipe change confirmation email once your selection has been saved successfully.

Top tip! Keep unloved recipes in the freezer and try introducing them again in a few months. Cat’s opinions of food can change over time (they just love to keep us on our toes.) 🐾
