Many urinary conditions in cats can look quite similar, but the right management approach will depend on the underlying cause and how severe the condition is.
Is KatKin suitable for cats with Urinary crystals and stones?
At the moment, none of our recipes have been formulated to manage urinary issues such as crystals and stones. They are a bit higher in certain minerals to account for the growth needed for young kittens — specifically the phosphorus and calcium levels. This may make our recipes unsuitable for cats with a history of urinary crystals and stones.
Is KatKin suitable for cats with Cystitis?
Cats with chronic cystitis or Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) are often advised to drink more water and reduce stress in their environment. KatKin can help with this, as the high moisture content in our recipes (around 68% and above) naturally encourages hydration and supports overall urinary tract health.
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
If your cat is suffering from a one-off urinary tract infection, your cat may not need to change their diet.
Your vet may prescribe medications, such as antibiotics, and once they have finished the course their symptoms may have cleared and they will not require any further treatment.
If your cat has been diagnosed with a urinary condition, we’d always recommend checking in with your vet before making any changes to their diet, to make sure it’s the best fit for them.
