Is KatKin Suitable for Cats Diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease?

At the moment we don't have any specialised renal diets. In the early stages of kidney disease, diets like KatKin may well be appropriate with your vet's supervision.

However, the critical nutrient in the late stages of kidney disease is phosphorus, so your cat may require prescriptive food with even lower phosphorus than what’s in our KatKin meals at the moment.

So chat to your vet about whether a fresh diet like KatKin would be appropriate for your cat. We hope to have kidney-friendly diets in the future.

What is Chronic Kidney Disease?

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a common medical condition for cats, particularly in their senior years — however, cats of any age may develop kidney disease.

🩺 We always recommend chatting with your vet before making any changes to your cat’s diet, to ensure this is the best option for their nutritional and health needs.

You can read more about CKD, the signs to look out for, and treatment option in our helpful Scratching Post article here.
