Is KatKin Suitable for Cats Diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease?
At the moment we don't have any recipe options formulated specifically to manage kidney disease.
In the early stages of kidney disease, fresh diets like KatKin may well be appropriate with your vet's supervision.
In more advanced kidney disease, phosphorus levels in the diet become particularly important to manage. Some cats may need a therapeutic renal diet with lower phosphorus levels than those found in KatKin recipes.
Chat to your vet about whether a fresh diet like KatKin would be appropriate for your cat. We hope to have kidney-friendly diets in the future.
What is Chronic Kidney Disease?
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a common medical condition for cats, particularly in their senior years — however, cats of any age can develop kidney disease.
🩺 We always recommend chatting with your vet before making any changes to your cat’s diet, to ensure this is the best option for their nutritional and health needs.
You can read more about CKD, the signs to look out for, and treatment option in our helpful Scratching Post article here.
