Everything you need to know about our clumping litter: Scoop Planet

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Our Scoop Planet litter is a game changer, if we do say so ourselves. Scoop Planet offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional clay-based litters as it’s crafted from pea fibre and millet, 100% biodegradable ingredients that would otherwise get wasted in the human food industry.

Not to mention it’s also:

  • Lightweight (only weighing 4.5kg)

  • Smells naturally sweet, thanks to to the corn + pea fibre

  • Clumps instantly

  • Lasts longer than ordinary clay based litter (1 bag lasts 1 standard cat a whole month)

  • Dust-free, perfect for cats with asthma

  • Limited tracking

  • 100% biodegradable

  • Gentle on paws

What’s Scoop Planet made of?

Pea fibre, millet flour, starch, corn flour, guar gum.

Scoop Planet is 100% biodegradable and made from rescued pea fibre and millet - byproducts often wasted in the human food industry. The starch, guar gum and corn flour act as natural clumping agents while the pea fibre and millet flour absorb liquid quickly.

How does Scoop Planet clump?

Scoop Planet works best when the litter is deep enough for clumps to form and sit on the surface of the litter. We recommend adding 5cm of Scoop Planet to your litter tray, and from there it’s simple to scoop out the perfect clump.

  1. Pour it. Add 3-5cm to a clean litter tray.

  2. Scoop it. Scoop out poop and clumps. Leave any unused litter.

  3. Top it. Keep it topped up to maintain 3-5cm depth.

  4. Clean it. Empty and clean the tray once a month, then refill.

Cat faeces can transmit toxoplasmosis. Always wash your hands after scooping cat litter, and take particular care if you’re pregnant or immunocompromised.

If you find that the clumps are sticking to the bottom or the sides of the tray, you might need even more depth of litter (higher than 5cm). This is because, if your cat loves to dig a hole pre-wee, 6-7cm should be enough depth to prevent the urine from reaching the bottom of the litter tray.

Sometimes, Scoop Planet arrives and the yellow millet pieces have sunk to the bottom of the bag. Give your bag a shake before you pour out the litter, or stir it once the bag has been tipped into the tray. A good mix of the pea-fibre and millet will ensure that the clumps form perfectly.

My Scoop Planet litter looks different to previous bags

There's a level of natural variation in the ratio of the pea and millet fibre. Sometimes there's slightly more pea fibre than millet, or the other way around. The millet is also heavier, so it often sinks to the bottom of the bag and is only visible when poured into a tray. The ratio can vary slightly, but the absorption levels should never be affected.

If you ever notice that the litter isn't clumping like it normally does, please get in touch with our Cat Experts to make it right for you.

How much does a bag of Planet weigh, how much is in it?

Each bag contains 4.5kg/12 litres of Scoop Planet cat litter. This might seem like less litter, compared to clay or wood pellets, but that’s because Scoop Planet is lightweight. A bag of Scoop planet should last longer than your average bag of cat litter, even though it weighs less.

Is Scoop Planet suitable for kittens?

Absolutely, our Fresh meals are not the only product inclusive of all life stages. Our Scoop Planet is suitable for kittens, adults and golden oldies too.
